Free Summer Camp Opportunity – Learn to Row with PCR!

Enrollment for PCR’s Summer Learn to Row Camp 2022 is OFFICIALLY OPEN!

PCR is excited to announce we are welcoming new student-athletes to our Summer Learn-to-Row Camps! Enrollment for these programs is officially OPEN now through Friday, May 27th! Students in this program will participate in a 3-week long rowing camp where they will learn basic rowing technique and receive a general introduction to fitness, nutrition, and the sport of rowing. Summer Camps are open to anyone in grades 7 through 12 who attends a Philadelphia public or charter school. All camps run Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12:30 pm. A camp t-shirt, daily snacks, and SEPTA cards will be provided to all participating students.

All camps are COMPLETELY FREE, but students must enroll by May 27th.

Dates for PCR’s summer learn-to-row include:
Session 1: July 11th to 29th
Session 2: August 1st to August 19th

PLEASE NOTE: Space in our summer camps is limited and priority will be given to students who have not previously participated in a PCR program.

Proof of swimming ability is requested for participation in our summer programs but is not required. Students who cannot swim two lengths of the pool or tread water for two minutes will be asked to wear a life jacket when they are on the water. All abilities are welcome to join! Due to continued COVID-19 restrictions, swim test and lesson dates are still to be announced.

If you have any questions about PCR’s Summer Learn to Row Camps or would like to be added to our waitlist, please contact George Rowley at

Learn to Row with PCR!

City of Philadelphia is recruiting Vision Zero Ambassadors – $1,000 stipend, apply by Sunday, May 29!

Are you concerned about car crashes, speeding, and other traffic safety issues in your community?
Do you want to learn what the City is doing about it and share with your community what can be done?
Do you want to collaborate with a group of like-minded individuals on traffic safety issues across the city?
We are looking for outgoing and motivated people to become the first-ever Vision Zero Ambassadors this summer and help spread the word about Vision Zero and traffic safety amongst friends, neighbors, and groups they are part of. Vision Zero Ambassadors will be the voice of their community around traffic safety issues. Vision Zero Ambassadors will also work with other ambassadors to create Vision Zero messages and activities that resonate with their communities. This program is modeled after the successful Indego Ambassadors program.
Selected ambassadors are expected to attend two training sessions on June 16 and June 23. During these sessions, ambassadors will be trained on traffic safety concepts, Vision Zero, and the resources that are available within the City. They will also receive support and guidance from City staff during their ambassador engagement period (June-September 2022). For their time and effort, Vision Zero Ambassadors will receive a stipend of $1,000 upon completion of the program. People who are well-connected to lower-income communities and communities of color are encouraged to apply!
Applications are due by the end of the day on Sunday, May 29.
For questions about the program, contact Waffiyyah Murray at
Thank you!
